ONID - OSU Network ID

Configuring Netscape Mail:

• Windows
• Macintosh

Netscape Mail 4.7 for Windows:

1. Open Netscape Messenger.
2. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
3. Under Mail & Newsgroups choose Identity.
4. Enter Your name the way you want other people to see when they recieve your email.
5. Enter your Email address. This should be in the form username@onid.orst.edu.
6. Under Mail & Newsgroups choose Mail Servers and click the Add button.
7. The Server Name is imap.onid.oregonstate.edu.
8. The Server Type is IMAP.
9. Fill in your ONID User Name.
10. Uncheck the Remember password box.
11. Choose the IMAP tab.
12. Select the Use secure connection (SSL) box.
13. Choose the Advanced tab.
14. Uncheck the Show only subscribed folders box.
15. Click OK.
16. Enter your ONID password if prompted.
17. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) server name is mail.oregonstate.edu.
    NOTE: If you are not on campus, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the name of their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server.
18. Click OK to close the Preferences window.
19. Netscape Messenger is now configured to check your mail!

Configure Netscape 4.7 to use the OSU Online Directory

Netscape Mail 4.7 for the Macintosh:

1. Open Netscape Messenger.
2. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
3. Under Mail & Newsgroups choose Identity.
4. Enter Your name the way you want other people to see when they recieve your email.
5. Enter your Email address. This should be in the form username@onid.orst.edu.
6. Under Mail & Newsgroups choose Mail Servers and click the Add button.
7. The Server Name is imap.onid.oregonstate.edu.
8. The Server Type is IMAP.
9. Fill in your ONID User Name.
10. Uncheck the Remember password box.
11. Choose the IMAP tab.
12. Select the Use secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
13. Choose the Advanced tab.
14. Uncheck the Show only subscribed folders box.
15. Click OK.
16. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) server name is mail.oregonstate.edu.
    NOTE: If you are not on campus, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the name of their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server.
17. Click OK to close the Preferences window.
18. Netscape Messenger is now configured to check your mail!
