Configuring Outlook 2007:

  1. Open Outlook 2007
  2. Open the Tools menu and choose Account Settings.
  3. Click the E-mail tab and click New....
  4. Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box and click Next.
  5. Choose Internet E-mail and click Next.
  6. Enter Your Name the way you want other people to see when they recieve your email.
  7. Enter your E-mail Address in the form username@onid.orst.edu.
  8. Select IMAP from the Account Type drop-down list.
  9. The Incoming mail server name is imap.onid.oregonstate.edu
  10. The Outgoing mail server (SMTP) name is mail.oregonstate.edu
    NOTE: If you are not on campus, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the name of their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server.
  11. Enter your ONID username in the User Name field.
  12. Uncheck the Remember password box.
  13. Click the More Settings... button.
  14. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
  15. Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication box and the Use same settings as my incoming mail server box.
  16. Click the Advanced tab.
  17. Under Incoming server (IMAP), select TLS from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down list.
  18. Under Outgoing server (SMTP), select TLS from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down list.
  19. Click OK.
  20. Click Next.
  21. Click Finish.
