Outlook Express 5/6 for Windows:
Retrieving your ONID mail:
- Open Outlook Express
- Open the Tools menu and choose Accounts...
- Click the Add button and select Mail...
- Enter your Display name which is the name you want other people to see when they recieve your email. Click Next.
- Enter your E-mail address this should be in the form username@onid.orst.edu where username is your username. Click Next.
- Select the type of incoming Mail server. Select IMAP from the pulldown menu.
- The Incoming mail server (IMAP) name is imap.onid.oregonstate.edu
- The Outgoing mail server (SMTP) name is mail.oregonstate.edu. Click Next.
NOTE: If you are not on campus, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the name of their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server. - Fill in your Account name - your ONID username goes here.
- Uncheck the Remember password box.
- Make sure Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked, if available. Click Next.
- Now fill in your Account name, which you will use to identify the account (such as onid.orst.edu or ONID email).
- Click Finish.
- Click on the Mail tab, then double click on your ONID account.
- Choose the Advanced tab.
- Under Incoming mail (IMAP) click the checkbox next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
- Click OK and close the Accounts window.
- Outlook Express is now configured to check your mail!

Retrieving your ONID mail:
- Open Outlook Express.

- Click the Assist Me button.
- Enter your Display name which is the name you want other people to see when they recieve your email. Click Next.
- Enter your E-mail address this should be in the form username@onid.orst.edu where username is your username. Click Next.
- Select the type of Incoming Mail server. Select IMAP from the pulldown menu.
- The Incoming mail server (IMAP) name is imap.onid.oregonstate.edu
- The Outgoing mail server (SMTP) name is mail.oregonstate.edu. Click Next.

- Uncheck the Save password box. Click Next.

- Double click on your ONID account to edit the account.
- Click the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
- Select the This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox.
- Choose the Advanced tab.
- Select the Store special folders on IMAP server checkbox.
- Click OK and close the Accounts window.
- Outlook Express is now configured to check your mail!
